5 Fun and Easy Beauty Hobbies for Moms

Posted on December 6, 2024March 30, 2025 By goddesshomemaking

I had been looking for some hobbies that I could do as an outlet from my day-to-day duties. As I was searching through various blogs, I came across nothing that I felt was worth my time. After I stopped searching, I realized that I already have some habits that I can turn into hobbies. The only thing standing in the way of me thinking of some of them as hobbies is the lack in the amount of time that I dedicate to each one.

I mean should I really have to jeopardize my looks just because I have four wonderful babies to care for? I think not! Here are 5 beauty hobbies that I plan to more frequently add into my hobby rotation.

Some products in this post contain links. If you purchase any of these products, I will receive a commission at no extra cost to you.

Henna

Henna is a hobby that I had taken up after giving birth to my fourth baby. I gained an interest in it after getting some pregnancy belly henna art and from there, it grew. So, I purchased these henna tubes off of amazon. I looked for some simple designs that I could try. First off, I started by tracing my hand on paper. From there, I played around with different designs on paper until I was comfortable with putting the design on my skin. It’s so much fun and I basically get a pretty little tattoo that last for about a week. This hobby, I do after dark to take drying-time into account.

Wardrobe Try-on Hauls

This one actually doesn’t involve any shopping at all, but only if you must!

After putting on an unflattering outfit one too many times, it’s became apparent that I needed to set aside time for trying on my clothing. After all, I need to know what still fits, how it feels and what looks good together. And I need to know this before stepping in my closet on a day that I don’t have much time to spare. It’s really an overall better feeling when you are, and look put together. Having regular wardrobe try-ons is just a no-brainer for me.

I’ve even found some apps that help keep track of outfits. Some of them use AI features to suggest outfit pairings as well. I am now saying goodbye to just throwing something on and hoping for the best. This is not only a beauty hobby, it also doubles as a productive one!

Nail Art

I really enjoy being able to change the color of my nails at any given moment. These days, I mostly stick to painting them over adding art. But when I’m feeling more creative, I will add a design or two. I’ve added these floral stickers to my nails for my wedding day. They really turned out so beautifully. Other times, I’ve done a cluster of rhinestones.

A mom hack that I use to polish my nails is to do it before a drive. I’ll just get everyone buckled in (including myself). I turn the car on, crack the windows and paint my nails. While I typically use a nontoxic nail polish, those still usually have a smell, so I still take precaution. As I drive, I keep the windows cracked and hold my fingertips out the window to let them air dry. By the time I get to my destination, my nails are good and dry.

Pedicures

Next, up is diy pedicures. Okay, so I know how convenient it can be to just schedule a pedicure at the salon. However, as moms, there can also be a convenience to doing them at home as well. Not to mention, the cleanliness of these salons are usually a bit sketchy to me. All of that aside, it really is satisfying to me to do my own pedicures. Like really, who is going to pay closer attention to me than me?

My Sunday evening ritual now involves me soaking my feet with this nice Epsom salt scrub. This one is my fav! It smells so medicinal and dead skin literally melts away. I am now in competition with myself to see just how soft I can get my feet. After i finish soaking and scrubbing them, I moisturize and rub them down. I find this also to be a perfect time to say some affirmations and squeeze in some thanks to my feet for all of their hard work.

DIY Skincare

There are so many skincare trends and what I actually think are gimmicks out there. I’m guilty of having fall into the trap a time or two. But after, trying out a couple of products that seemed to do absolutely nothing for me, I decided to go back to good ole old fashion skincare! Yeah, I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d much rather simplify than complicate.

One the easiest things for me to make as of lately is rose water. It has tons of benefits for the skin such as hydrating and tone evening. Not only that, but it’s also super easy to make. I just boiled some water and added these organic rose petals to it. After it cooled, I added it to a mini spray bottle that I store in the fridge. Every morning before I start breakfast, I give my face a couple of spritzes. It’s a bonus that it smells so yummy!

These are my top 5 beauty hobbies that are easy for anyone to start. If you’d like to explore this post in video format, you can check it out here. Feel free to drop a comment to let me know if you have any beauty hobbies that others could benefit from. Thanks for reading!
